About Zero Hungry Kids

Zero Hungry Kids is a non-profit charity committed to ensuring that no child goes without the nutrition they need to succeed in school and in life. Our flagship program, Fill the Fridge, is a volunteer-run, community-driven initiative funded through inspiring events and generous donor support.

The reality is stark: nearly 1 in 3 Calgarians are experiencing food insecurity, while across Canada that number has risen to 1 in 4 people, affecting approximately 10 million individuals. In Calgary alone, food support demand continues to grow, with the Calgary Food Bank serving 135,526 unique individuals and distributing 202,926 emergency food hampers in a single year; 37% of those served were children.

In response, Zero Hungry Kids focuses on supporting vulnerable Kindergarten to Grade 6 students by providing schools with industrial refrigerators stocked with healthy milk throughout the school year. This simple but powerful support helps children stay nourished, focused, and ready to learn.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Fill the Fridge is now active in 13 schools across three cities. Every event, every donation, and every volunteer effort helps us move closer to a future where no child in our community has to face the school day hungry.
