Earl Hale

Founder & Director

Earl Hale has more than 45 years of experience spanning the geophysical and geomatics engineering industries, ranching, and sport business ventures. A successful entrepreneur, he founded and developed numerous companies within the seismic industry, operating several on a global scale.

Raised in Alberta’s short-grass ranching country, Mr. Hale pursued ranching opportunities in both Alberta and Saskatchewan, maintaining strong ties to his roots and community. He is deeply committed to philanthropy and community development and is a Co-Founder of both the Brakemen Foundation and the Zero Hungry Kids Foundation. His leadership reflects a strong belief in giving back and supporting initiatives that enhance quality of life.

John (Jay) Third

John Third brings more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, with a strong focus on community empowerment and social impact. Throughout his career, he has guided strategic initiatives that have expanded outreach, strengthened partnerships, and increased access to essential resources for volunteer organizations in and around Calgary.

Mr. Third is recognized for a leadership approach that blends compassion with innovation, ensuring programs are both mission-driven and sustainably executed. His experience in governance, stakeholder engagement, and community development contributes meaningfully to the strategic direction of Zero Hungry Kids.

Director

Dan McArthur

Dan McArthur has more than 45 years of experience in the geophysical industry, having built, managed, and operated businesses across four continents. He has served as both an executive and director of public and private companies, including organizations listed on NASDAQ and the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

A lifelong volunteer, Mr. McArthur is deeply committed to supporting those in need. His service on the Board of Zero Hungry Kids reflects his dedication to strengthening communities and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

Derek Krivak

Founder & Director

Derek Krivak brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in the energy and engineering sectors. He has served in senior C-suite and Board roles across numerous private and public companies, contributing strategic oversight and operational expertise.

Mr. Krivak dedicated a decade to volunteering with the Calgary Stampede before co-founding the Brakemen Foundation in 2012. In 2017, he played a key role in launching the Zero Hungry Kids Foundation. His commitment to service and organizational leadership supports the Foundation’s mission and long-term sustainability.

Director

Kim Fleming

Kim Fleming brings more than 40 years of leadership experience in the financial services industry across Canada and Asia. Over the course of his distinguished career, he held numerous executive roles, culminating in his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Vietnam prior to his retirement.

Mr. Fleming has served on multiple corporate and charitable boards and has been a lifelong volunteer. His longstanding commitment to community engagement includes active involvement with organizations such as the Big-Hearted Mavericks, the Calgary Stampede, and the Brakemen Foundation. His global perspective and governance experience provide valuable insight to the Board of Zero Hungry Kids.
